Meet Heather

Non-Attorney Advocate
Special Education Teacher

My journey as a special education advocate started in my classroom. With over 16 years of experience as both a general and special education teacher, I've supported students from elementary through middle school. I also hold a Master's degree in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders, which deepened my understanding of how children learn differently.

As a teacher, I was constantly frustrated watching students struggle to get the support they desperately needed. Too often, their behaviors were seen as defiance rather than communication. Their learning differences were misunderstood or overlooked entirely. I'd sit in meeting after meeting, knowing what a child needed but feeling powerless within the system's constraints.

That's when I realized something: parents are their child's most powerful advocates, but they shouldn't have to navigate this complex system alone. I decided I could make a bigger impact by standing alongside families, bringing my classroom experience to help level the playing field.

Now, I teach parents how the IEP process really works and how schools actually operate behind the scenes. When we're reviewing evaluations together, I help you understand what those numbers and recommendations truly mean for your child. When we're strengthening goals and services, we focus on what will actually move your child forward—not just what sounds good on paper. Whether we're preparing for a difficult meeting or building a support plan that actually works, I'm right there with you.

Your child deserves more than a plan that gets them through the day—they deserve one that honors who they are and helps them thrive. I'd be honored to support you through this seemingly difficult process.
