Meet Heather Wright, M.Ed.

My journey as a special education advocate began where it matters most...in the classroom. With over 17 years of experience as both a general and special education teacher, I've supported students from elementary through middle school across North Georgia and the greater Atlanta metro area. I also hold a Master's degree in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders, giving me a deep, research-informed understanding of how children learn differently.
 

As a teacher, I watched countless students struggle to access the support they desperately needed. Too often, their behaviors were seen as defiance rather than communication. Their learning differences were misunderstood, minimized, or overlooked entirely. I sat in meeting after meeting knowing what a child needed, but feeling constrained by a system that wasn't designed to make things easy for families.

That frustration became my purpose.
 

Parents are their child's most powerful advocates, but no parent should have to navigate the IEP process, 504 Plan evaluations, or special education law alone. I left the classroom to stand alongside families, bringing my insider knowledge of how schools actually operate to help level the playing field.
 

​Today, I work with families throughout Georgia and across the country as a trusted special education advocate and IEP coach. Whether you're navigating the IEP or 504 Plan process for the first time, requesting a special education evaluation, preparing for an IEP, eligibility, or manifestation determination meeting, reviewing evaluation results, or advocating for services your child needs, I'm here to guide you every step of the way. Through collaborative coaching, document reviews, and meeting support, I help families understand their rights, make informed decisions, and confidently participate as equal members of the IEP team.

 

I believe the most effective IEP teams are built on collaboration, not conflict. My role isn't to take over the process, it's to help you understand it, prepare for it, and participate confidently as an informed member of your child's IEP or 504 team.
